Invisalign FAQ

Q.

How long do you wear your Invisalign Clear Aligners?

A.

Once your customized clear braces are ready for you, you’ll need to wear them 20-22 hours a day. Then, all you’ve got to do is simply pop in a new set of aligners every two weeks. Generally speaking, treatment time is 12-18 months, but the length of the digital plan mapped out by your doctors Dr. McRay or Dr. Robbins depends on your specific goals and how much you wear your clear aligners. Each set of aligners will gently move your teeth into place and transform your smile.

Q.

Is Invisalign® treatment painful?

A.

Since Invisalign® shifts your teeth, it’s quite common for patients to feel a small bit of pressure on the first day or 2 of wearing a new set of clear aligners. Typically, the pain is minimal, and patients can adequately control the slightest discomfort with over-the-counter medications.

Q.

Do you eat with Invisalign® in?

A.

No! You take your clear aligners out when you are eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, and if necessary, for special occasions. But remember, for optimal results, you will need to wear your removable aligners 20-22 hours a day. The advantage to having to take your aligners out to eat is that it frees you up to eat whatever you want—no restrictions!

Q.

What foods can you not eat with Invisalign®?

A.

When it comes to conventional braces, there’s a long list of food you cannot eat. But the beauty of Invisalign is that it straightens your teeth without restricting your diet. Your invisible aligners are removable, so you are able to take them out at any time and eat whatever foods you choose.

Q.

How often should you clean your Invisalign®?

A.

It is important to brush your teeth and your invisible aligners after every meal. This will keep them from becoming stained. To brush your aligners, simply clean them with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and lukewarm water. Water that gets too hot can potentially warp the plastic.

Q.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

A.

Up until this point, you may be wondering if there are any similarities between Invisalign® and conventional braces. One! The cost of Invisalign® is very similar to the cost of metal braces. But just like your teeth, we know every financial situation is different, and we want to make sure you get the smile you deserve. We recommend you have a consultation with us where we can present any possible costs upfront and help you decipher your insurance benefits.
